    Summary note:
Years ago, in a small cabin in the middle of one of Western Washington’s old-growth forests, Lottie May Swartz was born. It was 1904, and just outside of Snohomish that her story would begin. In her own words we are given a first-hand account of one of the most rapidly changing periods in American history. Through her vivid memory and gift of writing, she gives color and life to characters and scenes we can only picture from black and white still photos. She tells of adventures, struggles, joys and triumphs; from the most mundane tasks as washing the dishes, to interactions with the Native American princess, Pilchuck Julia, to daring feats of survival; everyday life is depicted as it was in the early part of the 1900s. Experience an in-depth look at the local history from Western Oregon and Washington to Pennsylvania and New York’s Findley Lake. History comes to life as Lottie retraces her steps through childhood and into the cusp of womanhood at the end of WWI.
